It is 1927 and the Calthorpe family have just moved into their brand new home. The house includes all the modern appliances and labour-saving devices of the time. Explore changes in technology and find out whether toast really does taste better cooked the old-fashioned way.
Why not make it a day and visit both Calthorpes’ House and Mugga-Mugga Cottage. A visit to both properties will illustrate the differences in the daily lives of two families, one which enjoyed the luxuries of all the ‘mod cons’ and one which still lived a simple, rural life.
