Walking Tour: Mugga Mugga Cottage Grasslands

Mugga Mugga Cottage

Saturday 8 October
10.00 – 11.30am
General $20 (Conc $15)

The paddocks surrounding Mugga Mugga Cottage include endangered listed native temperate grasslands. These grasslands were used and managed by Aboriginal people to support their needs for food, fibre, medicine, tools and shelter and their rich biodiversity became a key reason for settlement in this region and the establishment of the National Capital. Only about 1% of these grasslands remain throughout southeast Australia.

On this walk during ACT Historic Places' Bloom Festival, Geoff Robertson from Friends of Grasslands will introduce you to this fascinating habitat and show you ways to appreciate its subtleties and help protect it for the future.

Part of ACT Historic Places' Bloom Festival at Lanyon Homestead, Mugga Mugga Cottage and Calthorpes House.
