Join local Historian Nick Swain in celebrating the launch of his newest book, ‘Down Mugga Lane: Lost stories and endangered rural heritage’.

With the official launch being provided by Allen Mawer, you will also hear first-hand from Nick about the rich and complex history of this sometimes-forgotten area that includes Mugga Lane, Narrabundah Lane, neighbouring properties and nature reserves. Covering all the main phases of Canberra’s history, including quirky anecdotes and many ‘firsts’ such as Canberra’s first large vineyard and how encroaching urban development, such as Hindmarsh Drive, has impacted this locale. Nick will also point out key places of interest to orientate us in the landscape.

Light refreshments will be served. Participants are also encouraged to join the 1:00pm Mugga Mugga Cottage tour prior to the launch. Bookings can be made here.
