Jodie Cunningham

Cunningham joined ACT Historic Places in April 2019 and manages the team to develop innovative exhibitions, public programs and learning programs for our three historic sites. She is passionate about museum interpretation and education and the capacity of the arts to contribute to Australia’s cultural identity and economic growth. Jodie is excited by potential of Historic House Museums to provide layered stories from multiple perspectives and immersive interactive experiences for diverse museum audiences.

Cunningham’s background is in education and management in both museum and tertiary education contexts. With previous experience including the roles of: Assistant Director of Indigenous Visual Arts in the Commonwealth Government; Manager of Public Programs at the National Gallery of Australia and the National Museum of Australia; and Assistant Curator and Public Programs Officer at the Historic Houses Trust of New South Wales (now Sydney Living Museums.)

She holds multiple qualifications in Adult Education (CIT), a Master of Fine Arts Degree, (UNSW) and a Bachelor of Visual Art, ANU. She has been the recipient of several prestigious awards including the National Museum of Australia Travelling Scholarship, the Fulbright Scholarship-Visual and Performing Arts Category, Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship and the University Medal in Visual Art, Australian National University (ANU).
